Efficiency is an extremely important goal in industrial production - and relatively easy to achieve thanks to DESTACO's wide range of tool changers for robots and cobots. This is because the manual or automatic tool changers allow end-effector tooling and actuation devices to be changed quickly and easily. This ensures extremely short downtimes and higher ROI using flexible manufacturing cells in production by transferring, machining or assembling simple to complex components.

Manual tool changers in combination with air and electric utilities support small production run batch operations. The manual tool changeover works best in high mix low volume operations such as lab automation and CNC tending. Manual tool changers inherently limit the weight of tooling to maintain safe tooling changeover.

A good example is the ultra-compact, lightweight TC1 series manual tool changer, which was specially developed for use with cobots. Weighing just 330 grams and 25 mm high, it can complete a tool change in less than three seconds. Positioning is carried out with a repeat accuracy of 0.025 mm without affecting the programming accuracy of the cobot during part placement. The TC1 has four integrated compressed air feed-throughs as well as optional electrical feed-through modules for direct connection to an ISO 50 pattern cobot arm, such as UR robotics, Techman and others.

For cobots, DESTACO’s SPR10 small payload robot tooling is designed for the DIYer. SPR10 offers a simple modular set of off-the-shelf tools including magnetic, pneumatic and electric gripping, vacuum and tool extenders to position tooling further away from the cobot arm. All tools fit robots that have an ISO 9409-1-50-4-M6 mounting arm pattern. For other mounting requirements, blank robot and tool plates are available for customization.

Heavy duty industrial robots prefer modular pneumatic driven automatic tool changers such as the RHC, and RQC series offer precise tool positioning and secure locking. These models cover payloads up to 1100 kg. Using an industry first patented roller mechanism, the RQC series tool changers securely couple the tool plate to the robot plate resulting in a low-tension, ultra-high strength locking feature that maintains safety in the event of a compressed air failure. These industrial tool changers include quick disconnect modules of analog and discrete I/O, air, water, welding AC/DC current, servo current and vacuum lines.

DESTACO's automatic tool changers directly increase the ROI on cobots and robots where flexibility, productivity and adaptability are required in an application. These products are particularly popular in the automotive, general manufacturing, packaging and consumer goods markets. Thanks to their high repeat accuracy, rigidity and load capacity, they can be used for a diverse range of robotic applications.

As you can see, DESTACO's range of efficient tool changers sets the standard in technology and offers customized solutions for the requirements of modern industry. For more information, please visit https://www.destaco.com/robotic-tooling/tool-changers.html
