CUSTOM CHASSIS RESULTS IN 25% PRODUCTIVITY IMPROVEMENT

CHALLENGE

A consumer goods company wanted to design the next generation of paper-product making machines with a goal to increase the production rate from 200 pieces per minute to 250 pieces per minute.  In addition, they wanted to eliminate the exposed cam mechanisms of their current design and move to housed components.

SOLUTION

DESTACO proposed two CAMCO 800RD indexers and one CAMCO 500RGD indexer to provide the indexing motion for the main turrets on the machine. We incorporated a number of cam-driven mechanisms for ancillary motions and tied everything together with a belt and pulley driven from a single power source.  The whole system was mounted into chassis.  This allowed the customer to simply tool the paper forming mechanism on top of the chassis

RESULTS

The customer now has a new generation of machine with a 25% increase in productivity, capable producing 250 products per minute with reduced maintenance due to housed indexers.
